Responding to a child coming to me with a problem often is influenced by my mood or feelings. I need to work on being more consistently available rather than dismissing things out of exhaustion.

, I totally agree. So hard! But,
, I think you've accurately hit on the true meaning of "consistency" - it's isn't about always giving out the same punishment/consequence for the same offence. It's about responding based on the needs of our children and their struggles rather than our mood. Easier said than done, but having a healthy understanding of the objective is better than not!
