Previously, I thought of Fiver as a super-cautious, maybe overly-cautious fellow. His interactions with Hazel about the bridge and the boat surprised me; it felt like a role-reversal. Did it seem out of character to you? Were you surprised?

He does seem to express more of an adventurous spirit in this than previously. He always seems so fearful because of his premonitions. Perhaps when he doesn't sense direct danger, he becomes more "rabbit-ish."
It seemed totally out of character and I was going to bring it up. I'll be curious to see if this is a plot device or a lapse in continuity.
He does seem bolder, but when I think about his earlier actions, I think he may have always been bold in following his sixth sense. Going to the Threarah and leaving the warren were also quite bold things to do, and he seems to have been fully supportive, actually insistent about them. Pipkin is fearful but seems to be taking more risks as he is made bolder by his love for Hazel.
