This is difficult because I don‘t know tastes and sensitivities of everyone in this group. I tend to read YA fiction books for fun. But I really enjoy great character driven stories.
I recently read Educated by Tara Westover and Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens. Both books were good books with very heavy/dark themes.
In the past I have really enjoyed the following books
A Gentleman in Moscow
Station Eleven
Shakespeare plays
Divergent Series
Hunger Games series
The Nightingale
All thé Light We Cannot See
I would love new recommendations as I enjoy stretching myself and reading out of my comfort zone. 😊
Yes, it's tricky to pick fiction not knowing what content might be offensive to others. I think we'll just need to make our choices and then provide enough information for folks to make their own decisions.
Laney I recently read a couple of good books that made me think of you. In YA Monday’s Not Coming by Tiffany Jackson. Trigger warning there’s child abuse. I really enjoyed Hour if the Bees by Lindsay Eagar Which is middle grade, but a really good read which I look forward to discussing with my daughter after she reads it.
I have been wanting to read A Tree Grows in Brooklyn for ages and just never seem to get around to it. I would also like to read some Flannery O'Conner
This Tender Land by William Kent Krueger would be a good book for our group I think. There’s an epic journey well developed characters, even side characters met along the way have Intriguing back stories. Only hickup is that it’s the Modern Mrs. Darcy June book club book and it’s in really high demand at the library. Might be one to put aside for a later read.
I am ready to join this months chat on "The light we can not see", and missed the sign up, though. Where to? If I search Book Chat, only three previous ones come up but not the current. Help, please. Thank you
I haven't created the group yet, Rita. Coming soon! I'll be sure to send an email.
we are still finishing watership down 🤣 in my defense, we have read several other things simultaneously, but wow, it's gone slow.
I'm not the avid reader I'd like tobe so I have no real suggestions on titles, but I'm excited to see what's next 😀
I've been absent here a while & I miss it!! Hope all have been well ❤ looking forward to catching up on all the wonderful insights I find with you ladies
Hi Jessica, LOL you called me out on reading speed and ferocity. I struggle to keep up with book commitments. That's why I got so excited about this new one as I had recently finished it.
